10-Year-Old Davina Akofoba Killed In Far Rockaway, NY Accident

The crash remains under investigation

 Tragic accident that occurred on February 10th on Far Rockaway, New York. 10-year-old Davina Akofoba lost her life when she was struck by a vehicle on Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway. The young girl was walking home from school with her brother when she was hit by a motorist on the sidewalk. The driver, age 34, lost control of her black Mazda SUV while turning onto Beach Channel Drive traveled onto the sidewalk, and struck the pedestrian. The vehicle continued before crashing into a car wash and pinning Afokoba.  Afokoba tragically died from injuries suffered in the accident. Police indicated the motorist only had a learner's permit and continue to investigate the crash saying charges are possible. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
