10-Year-Old Lucero Lopez Killed In Placentia, CA Accident

Tragic accident that occurred on January 25 in Placentia, California. 10-year-old Lucero Lopez and her stepfather were tragically killed in an accident near Orangethorpe Avenue and South Melrose Street. Lucero's mom, Erica Lopez, was hospitalized with unspecified injuries. She is 7 months pregnant. The Placentia Police Department says they were occupants in a church van struck by a Honda Civic driven by a 24-year-old Santa Ana man. Authorities say the man ran a red light and crashed into the van. Police took the man into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. A family member said the victims were returning from a bible study. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
