16-Year-Old Luis Esparza Killed In Contra Costa, CA Accident

DUI wreck on Byron Highway

Tragic accident that occurred on Saturday, September 4th at around 11:15 PM in Contra Costa, California. 16-year-old Luis Esparza was one of two victims tragically killed when they were struck by an alleged drunken driver along the shoulder of Byron Highway. The California Highway Patrol reported that the teen was walking along the shoulder of Byron Highway when he was struck by a 2002 Subaru Impreza driven by 18-year-old Colby Sharver. Sharver was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
