22-Year-Old Rene Lopez Involved In Houston, TX Accident

Tragic accident that occurred on October 1 in Houston, Texas. A 2-year-old boy was tragically struck and killed by an alleged intoxicated hit-and-run motorist, 22-year-old Rene Alfredo Alvarado Lopez. Lopez was operating a Dodge Ram pickup truck in an apartment complex parking lot at 8400 Nairn Street when he hit a child and fled the scene.  Sadly the 2-year-old died at the scene. A short distance from the scene Alvarado Lopez was stopped by witnesses and held until authorities arrived. Police say he admitted to drinking prior to the crash and that he was out on bond for a previous DWI charge. He was subsequently charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim
