The Nassau County Police Department says an unidentified 20-year-old woman was walking at the intersection when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The pedestrian suffered major injuries including head trauma and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Martin fled the scene after the accident and later turned herself in to police. She was subsequently arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident where a serious physical injury occurred.
