One person died and at least eight others were injured when a U-Haul truck fled from police in the area of Bay Ridge Parkway near Fifth Avenue. The driver, 62-year-old Weng Sor, plowed into multiple pedestrians and continued without stopping as police attempted to stop it. One of the injured victims was identified as 30-year-old Eber Coy who was riding a bicycle when he was struck. Police chased the truck for about three miles before blocking it at the corner of Columbia Street and Hamilton Avenue. There, Sor was arrested. Six of the nine victims were transported to NYU Langone in Brooklyn for treatment. NYPD continues to investigate the crash. We send our thoughts and prayers to the victim.
