According to NYPD Panto was riding his e-bike northbound near Northern Boulevard when he was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. Police said that the 18-year-old Silverado driver was traveling southbound when he veered into the northbound lanes and hit Panto's bike. Panto was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he tragically later died. The teenage driver, whose identity was not released, remained at the scene.
