33-Year-Old Fernando Chaves Santos Killed In Cumberland, NJ Accident

Tragic accident that occurred on February 19 in Cumberland, New Jersey. 33-year-old Fernando Chavez Santos lost his life and the alleged impaired driver involved is facing criminal charges after he fled the scene of the crash. Mario A. Lopez was operating an SUV westbound along Irving Avenue when he traveled off the roadway and slammed into a tree. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Fernando, sadly died at the scene. After the crash, Lopez ran from the scene but was later apprehended. He was charged with death by auto, death by auto while under the influence and causing death while driving suspended or unlicensed. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
