At that time, the driver tried to turn left at a traffic light, exited the roadway, and slammed into a building. After impact, the Dodge erupted in flames. Teri Hughes, a front-seat passenger, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Mission Hospital where she died. Authorities say the driver and two additional passengers in the Dodge left the scene and remain unidentified. Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 828-252-1110.
