One of them is 4-year-old John Andrew Escamilla of Pharr, who died in a devastating multi-vehicle wreck involving a wrong-way driver on US Highway 281. The child was traveling with his father in a Hyundai Tucson when their car was hit by an alleged drunk driver’s Malibu and then by a Freightliner truck. The fatal series of collisions began around 2:38 a.m. and resulted in the vehicle spinning across lanes. One of the other victims in this crash was the boy’s father, Mark Alvarez.
