Authorities say the chase began when the driver of the Dodge, Tanya Renee Terry reached 112 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone while fleeing a trooper who had tried to pull her over. Terry crashed into the truck, of which Mr. Atkinson was a passenger, near Truckstop Road. Terry was charged with second-degree murder, felony speeding to elude, and speeding 112 in a 55 mph zone.
