45-Year-Old Shelby Cox Killed In Athens, GA Accident

Tragic accident that occurred on August 11 in Athens, Georgia. 45-year-old Shelby Cox sadly was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Atlanta Highway. Cox was waiting at a bus stop when she was run over by a black Toyota Highlander. The Toyota driver, later identified as Jeffery Scott Tate fled the scene after the collision. The Athens pedestrian was taken to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Tate was later arrested and charged with murder, hit and run (resulting in serious injury/death), reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane.
