Tragic accident that occurred on January 1 in Tacoma, Washington. 51-year-old Matthew Hernan was seriously injured as a result of a hit-and-run crash at Portland Avenue East and East 40th. Matthew Hernan was stopped at a traffic sign when another motorist struck his vehicle and fled the scene. Hernan was brought to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. The crash remains an active investigation, and officials will release more details once the driver is apprehended. We send our thoughts and prayers to the victim.
