According to authorities, a GMC pickup truck, speeding southbound on Harbor Island Drive, left the roadway and crashed into the bay around 9:05 p.m. Confer, one of the two victims in the crash, was pulled from the submerged vehicle and transported to UCSD Medical Center, where she was declared dead. The incident remains under investigation.
