53-Year-Old John Wilkins Injured In Smith, TX Accident

Gladewater man’s truck-tractor was struck by a pickup that failed to yield at intersection

Tragic accident that occurred on Monday December 28 at around 11:25 AM in Smith Texas. 53-year-old John Wilkins was seriously injured when his vehicle was struck between Kilgore and Tyler in Smith County. A pick up truck driven by 26-year-old Juan Villanueva failed to yield the right of way and drove into the path of Mr. Wilkins truck. Four passengers in Villanuevas vehicle, three of which were teenagers were killed in the crash. Mr. Wilkins was taken to UT Health in serious condition. Villanueva is also in serious condition at UT health. We send our thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families.
