Main StreetPosted: 3 years agoShare Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Email This StoryTragic accident that occurred on April 10th in East Peoria, Illinois. 55-year-old Paul Prowant sadly died after being struck by a drunk driver, 23-year-old Stephanie Melgoza, in the 3800 block of North Main Street. According to a police report, Melgoza admitted to drinking three vodka drinks prior to driving. An officer at the scene observed that Melgoza smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech and red, watery eyes. A bottle of Tito’s vodka was found in her vehicle. Melgoza was arrested for investigation of aggravated DUI resulting in death, cannabis possession, and transporting or carrying alcohol. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
