According to New York State Police, a 2017 Ford Explorer heading the wrong way on the Downtown Rome exit ramp to Erie Boulevard crashed head-on with a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta driven by the victim. She was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital, where she tragically later died. Her daughter was airlifted to University Hospital in Syracuse by Mercy Flight.
