Pedestrian struck on Highway 111

Tragic accident that occurred on August 3 in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. Barry McGrew lost his life when he was struck by a motorist along Highway 111 just south of the Interstate 270 interchange. Police said that 69-year-old Barry McGrew was pushing his bicycle west across the southbound lanes of the highway close to Engineer Road when a GMC van struck him. McGrew was rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
