Colleen Wilkes was injured when her car was struck by debris that flew off a semi-truck that lost control on Interstate 74. 55-year-old William C. Emerick ran off the road and entered the center median after striking the center median cables. Emerick was pulling a trailer that struck the overpass center support beam, creating a large debris field. As a result, Wilkes’ Chevy Cruze was struck by a large, sand-filled crash barrel that flew off the big rig. Emerick was cited by the Illinois State Police for improper lane usage.
