Joanne Mera was one of multiple people tragically killed in a floatplane crash in the Puget Sound. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the DHC-3 Turbine Otter went down and was submerged about 200 feet in the water. Nine adults and one child were on board the plane when it went down. "Joanne Mera was someone everyone gravitated towards,” her niece, Sami Sullivan, told the Seattle Times. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the accident.
