Juan Da Costa died when his vehicle was struck by an alleged intoxicated driver on the 79th Street Causeway Bridge. A Lamborghini, driven by Alejandro Hall was traveling at a high rate of speed on the bridge, which has a posted limit of 35 mph. Hall veered to avoid striking another vehicle but lost control. The Lamborghini crashed into the rear driver-side quarter panel of a Hyundai Elantra, causing that car's driver to be ejected. The Hyundai driver, Juan Andres Da Costa, was airlifted to the Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center where he succumbed to injuries. Hall was suspected of being intoxicated and was arrested.
