A three-vehicle crash involving a Thayer Police Department SUV claimed the life of one person and left two others with injuries along U.S. Highway 63. A GMC Express van was stopped, preparing to make a left-hand turn. For reasons still under investigation, a Thayer Police Department SUV crashed into the rear of the van. The impact sent the van into the path of a southbound Freightliner tractor-trailer. After colliding with the van, the Freightliner struck several trees and crashed into a ravine. The truck subsequently caught fire and was completely burned. The truck driver, Shaun T. Hendrix was taken to the hospital for treatment. MSHP is leading an investigation into the crash.
