Sumner Howard passed away last week in a motorcycle collision with a Mobile police cruiser at the intersection of Mobile Infirmary Boulevard and Old Shell Road. A three-year officer activated his emergency lights and proceeded slowly through the intersection with a red light. At the same time, a motorcycle driven by 67-year-old Sumner Howard was traveling west on Old Shell Road on a green light. The motorcycle and police cruiser collided at the intersection. Howard was transported to an area hospital where he recently succumbed to injuries. Additional details of the crash were not immediately available as the incident remains under investigation.
