Thomas Lyon Killed In Panama City Beach, FL Accident

Tragic accident that occurred on August 2 in Panama City Beach, Florida. Thomas Lyon lost his life when he was struck by an allegedly impaired driver at 21905 Front Beach Road. The crash occurred when a group of vacationing pedestrians were crossing from the north shoulder to the south shoulder. Reports state that a Nissan Altima traveling east was exceeding the speed limit and fatally struck one of the pedestrians. Tragically, the victim, was pronounced dead at the scene by FHP officials.  A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence, resulting in an arrest. The suspect, 39-year-old Casey Austin Rattan of Panama City Beach, has been charged with DUI Manslaughter and Vehicular Homicide and is currently in custody. The Florida Highway Patrol has launched an investigation into the incident. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
