The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old girl, failed to yield right of way at a stop sign and drove into the path of a GMC SUV driven by 37-year-old Joe Worry. Byrum was taken via helicopter to a Tyler hospital. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
