18-Year-Old Theresa Karlak Killed In Gaines, NY Accident

The crash remains under investigation

Tragic accident that occurred on Saturday January 1st in Gaines, New York. 18-year-old Theresa Karlak was tragically killed after being struck by a vehicle on Eagle Harbor Road. 24-year-old Zackery Harding was identified as the driver involved in the accident. The crash report indicates he was traveling southbound when the car in front of him slowed down to stop. He moved into the northbound lane striking two girls. Harding passed the field sobriety exam and substance abuse screening which included blood testing. The victim was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit is assisting the Sheriff's office with their investigation. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
