19-Year-Old Yavonne Mayes Killed In Port Arthur, TX Accident

Collision on Highway 73

Tragic accident that occurred on March 27th in Port Arthur, Texas. 19-year-old Yavonne Mayes lost her life when the Chrysler she was a passenger in collided with a tractor-trailer along Highway 73. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2012 Chrysler and a 2017 Peterbilt tractor-trailer were traveling east when traffic slowed due to a vehicle ahead hauling a wide load. The driver of the Chrysler failed to control speed and struck the rear of the tractor-trailer. Mayes was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
