21-Year-Old John Lane Killed In Calhoun, GA Accident

Tragic accident that occurred on June 14th in Calhoun, Georgia.  21-year-old John Hunter Lane was tragically killed in a construction site accident along 4617 Old Dalton Road. The incident occurred where a mile-long private driveway was being replaced. “Initial reports indicate a flatbed truck was being loaded with asphalt at the top of a steep hill.” “At some point, the brakes were suspected of failing and the truck rolled forward.” At the same time, a small Bobcat excavator was traveling downhill, assisted by a flagger who was on foot. Both the flagger and the Bobcat were struck from behind by the runaway truck. The operator of the Bobcat, John Lane, and the flagger, were killed in the crash. The accident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
