24-Year-Old Patrick Daniel Purdon Killed in Reeves County, TX Accident

A tragic accident occurred on April 3, 2025, in Reeves County, Texas, resulting in the death of 24-year-old construction worker Patrick Daniel Purdon. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Purdon, a resident of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, was struck by a semi-truck around 2:30 p.m. in a construction zone. The driver of the truck, 77-year-old Jose Alfonso Melendez, allegedly fled the scene after the collision. A construction supervisor later stopped the big rig. Tragically, Purdon was pronounced dead at the scene. Melendez has been charged with failure to stop and render aid and a collision involving death.
