Five children and an adult from Philadelphia were seriously injured in a crash with an impaired driver on Interstate 75. 26-year-old Ashley Clairmonte stopped her Buick Encore in the inside lane because she was “impaired and tired.” At that time, a Chevy Tracker driven by a 24-year-old woman crashed into the back of Clairmonte’s vehicle. The driver of the Tracker and five children, four girls ages 10, 6, 8, and 1, and a 6-year-old boy, were all hospitalized. Clairmonte fled the scene into a nearby tree line after the accident but returned when Troopers arrived at the scene. She was charged with DUI serious injury and leaving the scene of a crash with injury.
