A 41-year-old Tampa man tragically died in an alcohol-fueled accident on Howard Frankland Bridge separating St. Petersburg and Tampa. 29-year-old Alexander John Hoffman was arrested by Florida Highway Patrol troopers for DUI, DUI property damage, DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide. Hoffman was speeding in a Ford sedan when the vehicle rear-ended a Chevrolet SUV. Upon impact, the Chevy rotated and collided with the outside barrier wall before erupting in flames.
