52-Year-Old Melissa Cafazza Killed In Bethalto, IL Accident

The crash remains under investigation

Tragic accident that occurred on Friday, August 13 at around 8 PM in Bethalto, Illinois. 52-year-old Melissa Cafazza was one of three family members tragically killed when their vehicle was struck by a speeding motorist at the intersection of Bethalto Road and McCoy Road. The victim was a passenger in a BMW when a GMC Sierra, traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection. The Sierra collided with the driver side of the BMW. The victim was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Sierra has been identified as an 18-year-old male and authorities are awaiting a toxicology report. The crash remains under investigation and we send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
