The victim was struck by an SUV that then fled the scene. Mathis was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she tragically later died. Police released a photo of the suspect vehicle which was described as a gray 2014 to 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call the Major Accident Investigation Unit at 312-745-4521.
