He was riding a motorcycle southbound on Highway 101 when he was hit from behind by the driver of a 2018 Honda Civic. Reich was ejected from the motorcycle and hit by several passing cars by the time authorities arrived for the crash. The driver of the Honda fled the scene after the crash but was found by police hours later. The suspect was arrested on charges of suspicion of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter, and felony DUI.
