According to the Brighton Police Department, the incident happened when Schreiber was walking her dog in the roadway and was struck by a vehicle backing out of a driveway. The Brighton woman died at the scene due to fatal injuries. The vehicle driver, 40-year-old Linda Petrosino remained at the scene and was ticketed for unsafe backing.
