Darrell Branham lost his life when his moped was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Fish Hatchery Road. His moped was struck from behind by a motor vehicle after the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and left the scene. Branham was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Troopers later arrested 36-year-old Charles Matthew Besancon who was allegedly driving a 2018 Ford pickup truck suspected of being involved in the collision. Besancon is being charged with hit-and-run involving a death. The crash remains under investigation. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
