The World Bank will provide $1.78 billion to Turkey. Meanwhile the US will send $85m in aid. Monday's disaster is the deadliest to strike the country in more than 80 years. Survivors, many of whom are homeless, could face "a secondary disaster" as cold and snow lead to "worsening and horrific conditions,". Fearful of another earthquake, some people have chosen to stay out in the open, avoiding buildings that appeared intact, and to brave the subzero temperatures.
