Francisco Sanchez Sustaita was tragically killed in a multiple-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer along U.S. Highway 287. A 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV was involved in an earlier crash and was disabled in the northbound lanes. A 2001 Chevrolet Suburban arrived to help the driver and passenger of the Tahoe. Troopers said a tractor-trailer moved to the left lane to make room. However, the driver failed to see the disabled Tahoe in the left lane and collided with it and the Suburban. The driver and passenger in the Tahoe were ejected from the vehicle. Both occupants of the Tahoe were pronounced dead at the scene. One of the men was identified as Francisco Sanchez Sustaita. DPS continues to investigate the collision.
