Kimberly Martinez lost her life when the speeding vehicle she was a passenger in crashed and ultimately caught fire on the Henry Hudson parkway. 39-year-old Edgar Valette was driving a BMW southbound when he struck a median close to West 181st Street. The BMW continued through a railing and flew off the parkway onto Amtrak tracks approximately 500 feet below. Martinez was trapped inside the vehicle which caught fire upon impact with the tracks. Emergency responders found her deceased in the vehicle after they were able to put out the fire.
