Roger McMurray was one of two men who were killed after they stopped along Interstate 87 to help a stranded motorist. A black Cadillac SUV went off the right side of the road and crashed into a ditch. Two people stopped at the scene to try to assist. As the men stood at the side of the roadway, they were struck by a 2001 Ford pickup truck. Troopers said the pickup driver, a 46-year-old Wendell man, was speeding. He was charged with two counts of misdemeanor death by vehicle and exceeding a safe speed. The crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol.
