Yulia Gelats Killed In West Miami, FL accident

Gelats' car struck by SUV driven by 16-year-old at Northwest 79th Avenue and Flagler Street

Tragic accident that occurred on January 1 at around 3:53 AM in West Miami, Florida. Yulia Gelats was tragically killed when her Hyundai collided with an SUV at NW. 79th Ave. and Flagler Street. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Gelats was making a left turn at flashing red light and was hit by a Chevy Tahoe driven by a 16-year-old. The crash occurred when the driver of the Tahoe entered the intersection at the same time as Gelats. Three passengers in Hyundai were also sadly killed in the wreck. The occupants of the Tahoe were transported to Kendall Regional Hospital, and are expected to recover from their injuries. Gelats was a Dean’s list student at Florida International University.
